SIDEWINDER

Status: In use

SideWinder.jpg

SideWinder is a 1lb combat robot that was made as part of the NCSU Combat Robotics club. I was part of a team of three including Trevor ?, Dustin Best, and myself. In this, we created a two-wheel-drive horizontal spinner that used 3D printed carbon fiber nylon internals which was pressed between carbon fiber plates. The weapon assembly was a custom in-house machined aluminum hub motor that spun a titanium disk. This hub motor used a deconstructed brushless motor for which we machined a hub to replace the can. This required a toleranced interference fit to press in the magnet ring and then this mounted to the weapon disk. This robot competed at the NCSU combat robotics event and won the event without losing a single match.
